Frequently asked questions

Is income up to ₹12 lakh tax-free?

Yes, in the new regime taxable income up to ₹12 lakh has zero tax because of the Section 87A rebate. For salaried people, with the ₹75,000 standard deduction, that means a salary up to ₹12.75 lakh.

Which regime should I choose?

If your deductions (80C, 80D, HRA, home loan interest) are large, the old regime may be cheaper. For most people without big deductions, the new regime wins. The calculator compares both.

Did Budget 2026 change the slabs?

No. The slabs announced in Budget 2025 continue for FY 2026-27.
